KETTLE INSPECTION DEVICE

The Kettle Inspection Device (KID) is a special device which uses ultrasound to monitor kettle wall thickness.

Transvaal Galvanisers not only utilises the KID at its own production facilities to ensure the integrity of our own kettles, but also offers the service to other Galvanisers.

The KID is non-invasive, and can be used without the kettle being emptied. Inspections generally takes up to a day, but inspections can be arranged for days in which production is not running, as not to disturb production.

The probe takes up to 200 samples with a + - 1.5mm accuracy level, giving you a complete picture of what your kettle walls look like, with no guesswork involved.

KID

WHEN TO USE THE KID?

  • To test the level of wear in a kettle approaching the end of its life.
  • To monitor kettle ageing and wear.
  • If your kettle has been exposed to overheating and you are concerned about damage.
